Enthusiastic history buffs can learn about African American Heritage, Civil War Heritage or the region as a whole by visiting the sites on the Raleigh Heritage Trail.
In Greater Raleigh, 18 facilities allow golfers to work on their games, play a fun round of pitch-n-putt or test their mettle on championship courses. Of the latter, Eagle Ridge Golf Club is among the best in the region. Designed by U.S. Open Champion Tom Kite, Eagle Ridge plays through wooded terrain to a top slope of 133.
