By Brian Weis
(LAKE LURE, N.C.) – If you’re looking for the perfect golf getaway, Rumbling Bald is ready to deliver in 2025. Located on the beautiful shores of Lake Lure, just an hour east of Asheville, this 36-hole golf retreat has something for everyone, from casual golfers to seasoned pros.
Rumbling Bald’s Weekday Golf Packages are ideal for those with flexible schedules, available Sunday through Wednesday all year long. Prices start at just $367 per player for two nights and two rounds, and go up to $647 per player for four nights and four rounds. Keep in mind there’s a blackout period from May 22nd through September 4th during peak season. For groups looking to get away, Rumbling Bald also offers customized weekend packages year-round.
Whether you’re planning a small group outing or a larger golf trip, Rumbling Bald has plenty of lodging options available. Choose from the Apple Valley Studios, located just across from the Apple Valley course, or the two- and four-bedroom Fairway Villas, which are just steps away from the first tee at Bald Mountain. With a variety of vacation rentals available, Rumbling Bald can accommodate golf groups of all sizes. And for those who want to make their stay extra special, there are luxury vacation homes for extended stays, with the option to add golf rounds as needed.
“We’ve put a lot of effort into both of our courses this off-season, including the low-impact clean-up efforts from Hurricane Helene, and we’re excited to welcome back golfers in 2025,” says Adam Bowles, Director of Golf Operations. “Our courses have never looked better, and we think you’ll agree.”
For groups of 12 or more, Rumbling Bald offers a special deal where the group leader plays for free on their first visit. This Large Groups 12+ Comp is perfect for PGA professional trips, small tournaments, or large golf buddy groups. The shoulder and off-seasons offer great value with faster rounds and more tee time availability compared to peak times in spring and fall.

About Rumbling Bald
Tucked along scenic Lake Lure and surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, Rumbling Bald is secluded yet eminently accessible from major metro areas. Charlotte, Asheville, and Raleigh, N.C.; Knoxville and Nashville, Tenn.; and Greenville and Spartanburg, S.C. are all between one and five hours away. The idyllic retreat features two contrasting 18-hole layouts: W.B. Lewis-designed Bald Mountain and Dan Maples-designed Apple Valley.
Apple Valley stretches nearly 6,800 yards and features expansive views of Bald Mountain and Lake Lure. With 75% of shots either level or downhill, Apple Valley offers a unique golfing experience for a mountain course. Shimmering mountain lakes adorn 12 holes, but water only occasionally comes into play.
Bald Mountain, at 6,300 yards, is known for its distinctive configuration of five par 5s and five par 3s. The 16th green was featured in the classic film Dirty Dancing. Designed by W.B. Lewis, a protégé of George Cobb, Bald Mountain’s traditional design focuses on playability from tee to green.
Rumbling Bald is home to Lake Lure vacation rental homes, condos, and studios, ideal for groups of all sizes. After your round, relax at Legends on the Lake, offering casual dining along the shores of Lake Lure.
With amenities like scenic boat tours, rentals, tennis, pickleball, a full-service spa, and hiking trails, there’s something for everyone. Families can enjoy the Trout Stream Pool and Lazy River, and Rumbling Bald is the perfect basecamp for exploring the beauty of western North Carolina and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
